Álvaro Sánchez García

Director of the IE Center – Mexico

Álvaro has an extensive career as an entrepreneur and investor. He has created over 15 companies in the last 20 years in various sectors such as communication, food industry, real estate and services.

He has a Bachelors degree in Communication and graduated with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. He owned his MBA title in 1997 at IE Business School in Madrid. During his studies, he received the “Lease Plan” award for the best entrepreneurial Business Project from his intake. Since 1998, he is CEO and President of IE Business School Mexico.

He has completed several Executive Programs at IE Business School such as the Advanced Senior Management Program and the Global Senior Management Program.

In 2011, he joined the Project Sí o Si ( www.avocadopowder.com ) as Chairman of the Board, Co – CEO and member of the Executive Committee.
In 2013 he co-founded the enterprise Yumma Super Foods (www.yumma.mx) and took office as Chairman of the Board, CO – CEO and member of the Executive Commite (Yumma is a subsidiary of Sí o Si Foods).

Since 2011, he is senior partner of Alia Capital Partners (Private Equity).

In 2012, he became a Founding member and the Chairman of the Company Valle Orgánico (organic chicken and eggs).

Alvaro founded and was Chairman of Agricultural Origin and the Kuxan Group since 1995. These enterprises focused on the production and export of National products such as Jalapeno pepper and Shitake mushroom as well as the export of natural fruit juices to Europe in partnership with José García Carrión of Jugos Don Simon in Spain (Company leader of juices and wines in Europe). He sold both companies.

Founder and Chairman of La Maroma Producciones since 1993. Founding Partner of Distrito Films since 2003 (Studio of Communication). He sold both companies.

Founding Partner and Charmain of Grupo Bioterra since 2006 (Natural foods). Sold the company.

Furthermore, he has been a board member and investor of the following companies: Grupo Arquitectura, Fractal Comunicación, Restaurante Izote de Patricia Quintana, La Doble Vida (Advertising Agency) Sky Angel (Satellite Tracking), Active Leasing, Muchas Mentes (Digital Marketing), Equilibrium (Renewable energy). Currently, he is member of the board of  ASP & Associates, company with investments in City Express Hotels, ProCorp and Pro Equity.

He was member of COMCE (Mexican Council for Foreign Commerce) under The Bilateral Committee held between Mexico and Spain from 1999 to 2005. He was also a Board Member of The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mexico from 2006 to 2010.
