Over 1,000 managers and entrepreneurs from 43 countries met in Madrid today at the IE Global Alumni Forum to explore ways to exit the economic crisis with experts that included Joaquín Almunia, Luis Rojas Marcos and Bernardo Kliksberg. This year the annual meeting of IE alumni is focused on addressing the economic crisis, the fight against poverty and managing critical situations from a personal perspective.

Participants in the forum included Joaquín Almunia, Vice President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Competition, who analyzed the main lines of strategic action adopted by the European Union to combat the crisis; Bernardo Kliksberg, international expert in CSR and social management, advisor to presidents and institutions like ONU, BID, UNESCO and UNICEF, who examined the ethical and spiritualdimension of the individual in the fight against poverty; and Luis Rojas Marcos, professor of Psychiatry at New York University and Executive President of New York's public health and hospital system for over a decade, who centered his address on how to overcome adversity, stressful situations and catastrophes. As head of public hospitals in New York, and member of the city's Emergency Control Committee, Rojas Marcos played a key role in addressing the problems that arose in the aftermath of the devastating terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
